Determination of nurses' job satisfaction levels and psychological empowerment perceptions in şirnak province

This study was conducted using a descriptive methodology to determination of job satisfaction levels and psychological empowerment perceptions of nurses working in Şırnak province. The study's population consisted of 5 State Hospitals affiliated with the Şırnak Provincial Health Directorate. The research was conducted with 358 nurses from September 2021 to October 2022. The data collection tools included a personal information form, psychological empowerment scale and McCloskey and Mueller's job satisfaction scale. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test. IBM SPSS 24.0 software was employed for all analyses, with a significance level set at p<0.05. The average total score for nurses' psychological empowerment scale was found to be 5.65 ± 0.82. The total score average for McCloskey and Mueller's job satisfaction scale was determined to be 2.71 ± 0.80. Statistically significant differences were determined among nurses' PGÖ scores based on variables such as age, marital status, number of children, position, department of assignment, work style and career goals within their respective institutions. Statistically significant differences were observed among nurses' MMSS scores based on variables such as hospital, length of service in the profession, position, department of assignment, work style and career goals within their respective institutions. To enhance the level of job satisfaction and psychological empowerment perception among hospital-employed nurses, it is recommended that adjustments be made considering sociodemographic characteristics such as years of experience in the profession, position, department of assignment and work style.
