The releationship between corporate performance, the antecedents of strategy implementation and the efficiency of strategy implementation

In the literature of strategic management, it has been emphasized that the efforts of the implementation of corporate strategies often fail and the scientific researches on strategy implementation area are not sufficient enough. It has been argued that the formulation of a perfect strategy itself is not sufficient for the implementation if it has not been supported with other variables. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to research the basic factors which can be accepted as antecedents that have been needed for the implementation of the planned corporate strategies and to analyze their effects on the strategy implementation efficiency and corporate performance. It is possible to discuss the literature contribution of this dissertation in two ways. The first one is to create an eight variables related scale for antecedents of the strategy implementation for the first time and the second one is to analyze the effects of the antecedents of strategy implementation on strategy implementation efficiency. The model has been developed and hypothesized for these factors and tested on one hundred and twenty one different local and international companies which have been performing in production and services businesses. The questionnaires have been distributed to the upper and/or the middle managers of the companies and the questionnaires have been prepared in Turkish and in English. vii According to the research results, the positive relationship has been found between strategy implementation efficiency and building a capable organization, instituting best practices and pushing for continues improvement, installing information, communication and operating systems, corporate culture and strategic leadership. Also, positive relationship has been found between strategy implementation efficiency and corporate performance. At the end of the analyzes of the hypothesis with the moderating effects of environmental uncertainty, it has been found that environmental uncertainty has got partial positive relation on strategy implementation efficiency and the antecedents of strategy implementation.
