ivFORCES ACTING ON THE SUBMERGED PIPE(M.Sc. Thesis)Olcay GÜNDEM RGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJanuary 2006ABSTRACTIn this Study, the forces acting on the submerged pipe are investigated.Numerical results are compared with the current present experimentaldata related to the forces acting on the pipe due to the flow and waves. In addition, the effects of the longitudinal-grove roughness elementsand uniform sand roughness (placed on the outer surface of the pipe)on the drag force acting on the pipe are experimentally searched. Theexperimental results have indicated that these roughness elementseffect the forces acting on the submerged pipe.Science Code : 911.1.002Key Words : Submerged pipes, flow forces, roughness, pipe typePage Number : 84Adviser : Prof. Dr. Nevzat YILDIRIM
