Abstract (EN)

This study thoroughly examines the life and exegesis method of Süleyman Ateş, who has left significant marks both in Turkey and internationally. Ateş successfully combined traditional madrasa education with modern educational approaches, utilizing the depth of Islamic knowledge and scientific methodology in his work. Particularly, his innovative approaches in Quranic exegesis and his attitude of considering contemporary scientific findings have made him a notable scholar. Ateş placed great importance on Sufi interpretations and findings of positive sciences in his exegesis works. While conveying the universal message of the Quran to today's world, he aimed to provide comprehensive explanations by benefiting from various disciplines. By integrating traditional interpretations with a modern scientific understanding in his exegesis, Ateş has become a valuable resource for readers seeking guidance on both traditional and contemporary issues. The primary method in Ateş's exegesis works is based on the strategy of explaining Quranic verses with other verses. This approach emphasizes the integrity and internal consistency of the Quran, aiming to deepen the understanding of the text. Furthermore, the thesis also detailedly examines the sources, methodological approaches, and controversial topics used in Ateş's exegesis. In conclusion, the significant contributions of Süleyman Ateş to the exegesis tradition and his impact on modern Islamic thought can be better understood through this study.
