Abstract (EN)

Objective: In the short term, our goal is to analyze the effect of the frontal QRS-T angle on the survival of sepsis patients, thereby identifying early risk profiles and improving treatment approaches. In the long term, we aim for these findings to fill gaps in the literature, establish whether the FQRS-T angle is an independent prognostic indicator in sepsis patients, and ensure that this knowledge is effectively utilized in clinical practice. Materials and Methods: Our study was conducted retrospectively, randomly, observationally, and as a single-center study at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine, Emergency Medicine Clinic. Medical records of patients who were admitted to the emergency department with a diagnosis of sepsis (A41.9) between September 1, 2022, and September 1, 2023, were reviewed. Patients with complete records were included in the study. Data on age, gender, vital signs, WBC, biochemical parameters, CRP, PCT, and lactate levels were recorded. Additionally, ECG findings were documented. Results: The mean age of the patients in our study was found to be 69.70 ± 14.44 years. There was a statistically significant difference between survivors and nonsurvivors in terms of GCS, temperature, pulse, CRP, PCT, Mo, lactate, LCRP, LPCT, QTc, and FQRS-T angle (p<0.05).The highest AUC values were observed for PCT (AUC: 0.751) and FQRS-T (AUC: 0.687). The parameter with the highest sensitivity was respiratory rate (87.5%), the highest PPV was for FQRS-T (90.2%), and the highest NPV was for GCS (89.6%). According to univariate regression analysis, a oneunit categorical increase in FQRS-T was found to increase mortality by 1.331 times. Conclusion: The mean FQRS-T angle in sepsis patients was measured as 61.29 ± 48.70 degrees. An increase in this angle may serve as a guiding indicator in determining patient prognosis. The median length of hospital stay was 15 days. Prolonged hospital stays were associated with the severity of the disease and challenges in patient management. Keywords: sepsis, FQRS-T angle, mortality
