Abstract (EN)

In the construction sector, buildings increase carbon emissions by polluting the environment in various ways with energy consumption. In line with the sustainability goals, researches and studies continue without slowing down in order to reduce the damage to the environment where the buildings are located and to make them more efficient. Today, sustainable smart buildings have emerged and their number is increasing. The necessity of transforming buildings into smart and sustainable buildings in order to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions with various disasters increasing in the world due to the current climate change is also seen in the studies. Achieving zero energy and zero carbon for smart buildings is a global goal and an important factor in sustainable development strategies. The most effective strategy to increase the energy efficiency of smart buildings in sustainable architecture is smart facades. Smart façades in sustainable smart buildings are façades that adjust user comfort with heating, cooling, ventilation (HVAC) and other sub-systems, provide energy saving and energy production by utilizing renewable resources, and are compatible with the environment. In this thesis, smart building, net zero building, sustainable architecture, smart facades and design principles, environmental building assessment methods and smart facades applied in smart buildings around the world will be examined and the use of smart facade applications in sustainable architecture will be emphasized. The study was concluded by emphasizing the use and dissemination of sustainable smart facades in existing and new buildings for Net Zero Build, which is the hypothesis of the thesis, which is the best efficient building aiming at zero energy and zero carbon in climate change.
