Concept of qarter within the framework of sustainability and a case study on Köprülü, Kurtuluş, Yedieylül Qarters of Aydin settlement

Accepting the concept of ?quarter? with itsphysical and social aspects, evaluating effects of built environment onbehaviors of human being, retrieving the unique values of ?quarter?and providing its sustainability are the main aim of the study.As a methodology, ?Direct Observation? and ?Indirect Observation?have been used during the study. At the first place, using ?IndirectObservation? method, literature survey has been performed onsustainable development, concept of ?quarter? and Aydın settlement asa study area. Additionally, as a ?Direct Observation? method, landsurvey has been completed using questionnaires on ?Köprülü?,?Kurtuluş? and ?Yedi Eylül? quarters. Within the framework of socialnetwork, neighbor relationship and being inhabitant of ?quarter?,hypothesis that claimed whether planning decisions providesustainability of quarter concept has been examined.As a result; while, social network, neighbor relationship and theconscionness of being inhabitants of ?quarter? concepts have notcame across for the built environment which has been designed withhigh-rise, attached and without social infrastructure, for the areas thatdeveloped with low-rise and detached type of buildings with socialinfrastructure, mentioned concepts have been found.
