Abstract (EN)

Human leaves various traces in nature throughout life. These traces left by humanity in nature have a negative effect on earth life. The carbon footprint is the most important actor of mankind as a result of these activities and has an impact on the ordinary process of global warming. The increase in global warming causes negative changes in climate and threatens natural life. The world states that realized this danger realized various meetings in order to attract attention and take precautions. At the end of these meetings, they aimed to prevent the danger of approaching global warming by taking decisions. At the end of the meetings, they signed the UNFCCC with a roof contract. The Kyoto Protocol, signed under the UNFCCC, aims to minimize the human factor in global warming and climate change. In this context, the protocol imposed a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 5% to 1990 data. Therefore, states and institutions with high greenhouse gas emissions calculate carbon footprints and take measures to reduce emissions. However, it is not enough for the state and institutions with high greenhouse gas emissions to perform these studies. The universities have to take the lead with global warming, the public's attention and the work they will be doing. With this thesis, the carbon footprint of Çankırı Karatekin University, which is a science institution and public institution, has been calculated. As a result of the calculations, the total emission was estimated to be 5,633,13 EtCO2e / year. On the other hand, it was found that the highest emission was due to electric energy consumption with 2.527.72 EtCO2e / year. With the division of the total number of personnel carried out by the university, the average emission per individual is estimated to be 4.54 EtCO2e / year. According to the obtained results, the university was offered renewable energy production proposals in electricity consumption where the highest emission was realized, as well as various saving measures.
