Syrian refugees in the work findings problems (Adıyaman example)

In this study, socio-economic and vocational profiles of Syrian refugees living in Adiyaman were tried to determine for their integration into the labor market. Research is a descriptive study carried out in the form of general screening. The research study group consisted of 110 families living in Adıyaman downtown, and 493 people belongs to these families and 55.2 percent of these people were male and 44.8 percent were female. Snowball sampling model was used in the selection of the sample. A 28-item survey was developed by the researcher in order to determine the vocational profiles of the refugees. Surveys were conducted with face-to-face interviews and interpreter support was provided to obtain data from refugees who does not speak Turkish. Percentage, frequency and cross table techniques were used in the analysis of data. Even though the average age of Syrian refugees is very low, they have difficulty in finding a job because, one in five kids have never gotten education, and more than two in three have gotten only basic education, and moreover socio-economic situation of the refugees is very low. Researches have come up with the result that refugees can earn very little income. Due to the high proportion of people participating in business life from the refugees, suggestions have been developed to bring them in working different fields, such as teach them Turkish effectively, to certify those with informal skills, to diversify employment and entrepreneurship possibilities and to work for reduction of social discrimination.
