Abstract (EN)
The continuous increase in population and the development of industries necessitate the construction of liquid tanks for the storage of different liquids, especially water. Moreover, this study will be conducted to determine the dynamic behavior of liquid storage in more realistic manner. Likewise, the study have taken into consideration the usage of the appropriates international standard code. The aim of this study is to help engineers and those that are interested in this area to understand the behavior of liquid tanks under dynamic loads and to make comparism using the international standard code. The results obtained will contribute to facilitate the calculation and the design of liquid tanks. Conquently, the relationship between the ACI 350 and EUROCODE 8 codes for the seismic analysis of cylindrical and rectangular liquid tanks and the formulas used in the determination of the parameters are compared. The study consists of five parts. In the first chapter, the aim and scope of the study is discussed. In the second part of the study, the literature related to ACI 350 and EUROCODE 8 codes past studies are examined. The third part of the study, the predicted correlations in the ACI 350 and EUROCODE 8 codes are presented for the earthquake calculation of cylindrical and rectangular tanks, according to rigid and flexible assumptions. In the fourth chapter, takes into account the shallow and deep, rigid and flexible acceptance of each of the cylindrical and rectangular warehouses, as well as the numerical applications of the warehouses. The findings obtained from numerical applications are examined. In this section, the results obtained and presented as charts and figures are compared. In the fifth chapter, recommendations are presented, based on the results obtained from the study. According to the ACI 350, there is only a flexible solution, while the EUROCODE 8 offers both flexible and rigid solutions. In line with the studies, it was determined that the results obtained according to the EUROCODE 8 flexible solution gives results that ensures greater safety than the ACI 350.
