Crete province according to Tahrir Record (1645-1704)

In Crete Island where was under the control of the Ottoman Empire about two centuries among 1645-1704, three different tahrir studies were performed. These tahrirs provide detailed information about the demographical, financial, religious and administrative condition of the ısland. In particular, in the ısland, setting up the Ottoman administration after the conquest, existence of a Muslim-Turkish society, the social and ethnic alterations with the coming of Turkish hegemony, the public improvements through foundation system and all the features that made the ısland distinguished will be tried to find out through the comparative evaluation of these records. The evaluation of data belongs to three different tahrir perods through the comparison method, will reveal the demographical, financial, social, ethnical and administrative alterations of ısland for the first 59 years after the Ottoman conquest.
