Abstract (EN)

In this study, the factors that affect on Taraf?s agenda settings and the affects of Turkish press? agenda is examined. In the theoritical chapter of the study, the media agenda which is the first step of agenda setting approach; the factors that affect media agenda are explained. After, Taraf newspaper is described, in matter and manner and structural features.In the practical chapter of the study, in depth interview is made with 11 of the Taraf?s staff and with the transcripts, 35 issues of Taraf are analyzed by descriptive analysis. The other method of this study is the content analysis that is made for discovering impact of Taraf?s agenda on the other?s agendas. The ambush near the village of Dağlıca, the death of Ceylan Önkol and the coup plot named Balyoz against Turkey?s ruling political party are investigated by content analysis. For this part 16 newspapers are choosen which are close to 7 different groups such as mainstream, conservative, Islamist, socialist/leftist, nationalist/rightist, liberal and laisist natonalist in Turkish press. At the findings of this research, facts in the settings of Taraf?s agenda are observed as; the identities of the staff and their belonging with the newspapers, eforts to the out of routine journalism, structural problems of the newspaper and objection of official ideology of Turkey and the fight for this. The newspapers as part of this study undergo a change in their point of views and priorities according to the characteristics of Taraf?s news.
