Based on his historical novels perception of history in Mehmed Niyazi

Mehmed Niyazi is one of the most important authors of recent Turkish literature with his novels, stories, intellectual works, research and newspaper articles. Especially known for his historical novels, the author novelizes important events that marked the last periods of the Ottoman Empire in these works with a realist understanding of art shaped by a nationalist mentality. Mehmed Niyazi, although his works had great benefits for the nation, undertook a mission such as bringing many heroes to the fall of the day who were forgotten by being subjected to the fate of history with his meticulous research from domestic and foreign sources. Instead of writing popular novels from an Orientalist point of view, the author's goal was to instill historical consciousness in the reader with his works shaped by national and spiritual elements. Based on his historical novels, this work, which deals with the perception of history in Mehmed Niyazi, consists of four parts. In the first chapter, the emergence and development process of the novel genre in both Western and Turkish literature was explained with emphasis on the concept of the novel. In the second chapter, the concept of the historical novel, one of the most popular branches of the novel genre, the development of the historical novel, the relationship between fiction and reality in the historical novel and the place of the historical novel in the construction of identity were mentioned. In the third chapter, information was given about Mehmed Niyazi's life, personality, sources and works that guide his literary personality. In the fourth part, which was the main part of the study, Mehmed Niyazi's unwritten epics, Canakkale Apocalypse, Yemen Ah Yemen, Pleven and Kanije, in which he dealt with important historical events in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, were analyzed in the context of the author's perception of history, and evaluations were made about these novels.
