Abstract (EN)
Cultural heritage, which reflects the past, identities, and values of people and requires preservation, encompasses significant physical, intellectual, and intangible entities. Within cultural heritage, the modeling of historical buildings as smart objects has been recognized as a significant advancement in conservation and restoration processes. With the advancement of technology, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has initially been used for architectural structures and later found wide application, including existing and heritage buildings. Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) is an approach that utilizes virtual intelligent models for aspects such as conservation, surveying restoration, management, and functional changes in heritage structures. These developments have made the modeling of historical buildings as smart objects a crucial step in preservation and restoration processes. In the literature, several attempts and research studies have been carried out in the creation of HBIM models, employing a variety of software and programs. However, a standardized method has not yet been established. When it comes to BIM model production, the utilization of parametric objects from libraries is commonly practiced. While most BIM software provides libraries primarily for newly designed structures, pre-defined parametric libraries specifically tailored for heritage buildings are often absent. Due to the lack of an automated process for the conversion from point cloud to HBIM, the utilization of a parametric object library representing architectural elements facilitates the process of obtaining an HBIM model. In this context, within the scope of this thesis, articles implementing HBIM through the creation of parametric object libraries in the literature were examined, and HBIM implementation methods were described. A total of 50 articles related to HBIM model production were analyzed from various perspectives. The analyses revealed a low rate of implementation of object libraries. The advantages of utilizing an HBIM object library have been highlighted, emphasizing the need to increase applications in this direction. Moreover, a comparison has been drawn among frequently employed software in HBIM applications, taking into account factors such as cost, hardware prerequisites, interface languages, and integration capabilities with point cloud data. This table endeavors to serve as a guiding resource for a company or practitioner embarking on their inaugural venture into the realm of HBIM. As a result of the table, it has been seen that the software has different advantages compared to each other, and it is necessary to choose according to the available possibilities and software knowledge. In addition to the HBIM model production methods found in the literature, two method attempts have been described, and one method proposal has been put forward.
