Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine character construction in the novels Kekeme Çocuklar Korosu (The Choir of Stuttering Children), Ve Sen Kuş Olur Gidersin (And Then You Become a Bird and Leave), Hayal Meyal (Vaguely) and Şanzelize Düğün Salonu (Champs-Élysées Wedding Hall) by Tarık Tufan, a contemporary Turkish author who has gained significant attention in recent years. The fictional characters in these works are regarded as powerful representations of the author's sensitivity toward the human condition, individual inner conflicts, responses to societal pressures, and the impact of modern life on the individual. The theoretical framework of the study is grounded in psychological and sociological approaches. The characters' inner worlds, attitudes, and behaviors are analyzed within the context of psychoanalysis and analytical psychology. Furthermore, issues such as the individual's struggle with urban life, societal crises, past traumas, family structures, and the influence of social values on the individual are explored through the mental and emotional processes of the protagonists. Narrative techniques such as stream of consciousness, interior monologue, and internal dialogue provide opportunities to make inferences about the ontological dimensions of the characters. Character construction in Tarık Tufan's works is evaluated on both individual and societal levels, and the analysis is enriched by considering the influence of postmodern narrative techniques on character development.
