Abstract (EN)
Having knowledge and using the information correctly is important in the design discipline. Input sheds light on studies in terms of early intervention and interprets the success of existing products. Understanding the ideal/spiritual dimension of a designed product means to have more detailed information about that product and to evaluate it correctly. The association of the appearance of the product and its features through visual elements such as harmony, simplicity, dynamism, contrast, and balance emphasize the importance of aesthetics and liking. Aesthetic value of the product is the most fundamental point of contact for both the designer and the user. For this reason, this study focuses on vision, which has a great impact on the inner world of users and uses eye-tracking technology with the aim of accessing the hidden aesthetic liking information on the user and the generalizability of aesthetic judgments. In this context, it was decided to work on a static product group and armchair variations have been produced as sample. The metrics of appreciation of the participants and eye movements on the armchairs with varying details were monitored in different studies. In line with the main aim of the study, meaningful and directive outputs were provided. It is concluded that liking can be obtained from the eye through gaze metrics such as the time to first fixation, first fixation duration, fixation number and duration, and visit number and duration. According to the results, the gaze information can have an impact on design decisions. On the other hand, the methodology by which this input can be acquired in the use of eye-tracking technology was analyzed in experimental processes and within the scope of the study, a roadmap for design practice was created.
