Abstract (EN)

Cultural Heritage with many different values such as cultural, historical, scientific, aesthetic etc. are damaged or destroyed over time by changing conditions and environmental, natural, or human induced factors. The purpose of this research; transfer of cultural heritage to future generation with sustainable conservation for cultural heritage buildings within historical city center of İzmir, whose numbers are dwindling, are under threat and are in the process of extinction. In line with the stated purpose, risk management was used as a tool and within the scopes of risk management, the thesis study was composed of five sections. In the "Introduction" section, which constitutes the content of the risk management; the problem has been explained, the purpose, target, basis, importance, scope, and limitations of the research have been stated, and a summary of the sources examined in the literature study has been given. In the "Identification of Risks" section; the physical condition, protection status, property status and value analyze of the heritage buildings within the boundaries of the sample research area were presented, and in the light of these analyzes, the risks within the scope of study were defined. In the "Analysis of Risks" section; identified risks were observed and examined by ABC risk analysis and SWOT analysis methods in the light of data obtained from institutions and databases. In the "Assessment of Risks" section; in line with the data obtained from the ABC risk analysis and SWOT analysis, the heritage buildings were classified as structures that require urgent intervention, structures that require intervention, structures that need to be kept under control, and structures that the protection processes should be maintained, and in line with this classification, evaluations were made in the structure dimension. In the "Conclusion and Suggestions" section; within the field, street and heritage building scope the conclusions reached with the study are presented; in line with the conclusions and evaluations, suggestions were made, and the thesis process was completed.
