Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT The Failure Analysis of The Power Transmission System on Vehicles: Shaft And Axle Example In order to move vehicles, power generated by an engine is transmitted from the gear box to the rear or front wheels. All vehicles have this system, which is called power transmission systems. The transmission system transmits the power continuously when engine runs, leading to worn parts. In research work, we have found out that failure of transmission parts are caused by fatigue, non-maintenance and over-loading. These resulted in fracture, crack and fatigue. In this work, surfaces of asample universal joint and half-shaft were analyzed. The failures of these parts were caused by fatigue and material imperfections. By using the finite element method, stress analyses were carried out in order to identify maximum stress areas and compared to analysis result of the sample parts.
