The chronological index of Tasvir-i Efkâr and the translation of selected texts: 1st August, 1914-30th October 1918

World War I affected lots of states and socities in all respect. Certainly, one of the socities which was influenced mostly by this event was the Otoman State. This war caused the historical retiral of the Otoman State. On the other hand, it started the process of new Turkish State?s foundation.There are lots of works of art about this war which lasted four years. Most of the absolute works are included, but the life and reflection of the war is not given. For this reason, examining the newspaper that was published during the war is important as it gives information at first hand about this period. The newspapers of this period had became a major source on the establishment of the effects of the war which happened between the years 1914 -1918.Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper has different importance among the most of the local and foreign newspapers that were broadcasted in Otoman State during World War I. It is different from the other newspapers of the period in terms of the technics of printing and the productiveness of the writers.It is useful to introduce the events that happened at the time of World War I in the newspaper. A test will be created at the end of this research with resources from history, sociology, economy, etc. apart from literature. The articles from the newspaper were used in this thesis were based on discovering the effects of the war on society and consequently art and literature.Key Words: Tasvir-i Efkâr Newspaper, World War I ,The Ottoman State
