Abstract (EN)

As a developing country, Türkiye shows a parallel increase in energy consumption alongside population growth. Population growth naturally leads to an increase in energy demand and increases our country's dependency on foreign energy sources. Therefore, it is important to reveal the existing domestic energy potential and utilize it. In this study, fuel mixtures with different weight ratios were prepared using locally produced Kale lignite and chicken manure for a custom manufactured Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustor (CFBC) system. The mixtures were prepared with the following ratios: (100% lignite (L), 75% L + 25% chicken manure (CM), 50% L + 50% CM, 25% L + 75% CM, and 100% CM). Following the combustion of these fuel mixtures, the erosion-corrosion-deposition, accumulation, and sintering behaviors in the combustion chamber and on the heat transfer surfaces were examined. High amounts of Si and Al were detected in all fuel blends. The highest ratios were found for 75%L+25%TG and 100%L. Sulfur was detected in ash samples of all fuel mixtures except the experiment where 100% TG was burned. In the experiment where only coal was burned, SO3 was detected at a rate of 0.79% by weight in the ash content, while in the experiment where 25% L + 75% TG was burned, the SO3 rate reached 4.19%. This was suggested to be caused by the high levels of Ca or Mg elements in the chicken manure ash. Therefore, in the experiments where TG was co-combusted with lignite, SO2 emissions decreased as a result of SO2 being captured in more ash. This was considered as an important synergy of co-combustion. The mass contents of K, Ca and P were higher in all ashes containing TG compared to L. This indicates the potential of TG ash to be used as a soil amendment. In general, it was determined that as TG was added to L, the potential for covering the heat transfer surfaces with ash increased. At the same time, L and TG mixtures were found to have moderate slagging and moderate tendency to contaminate heat transfer surfaces considering different evaluation indices. In general, it was determined that the potential for ash fouling on heat transfer surfaces increased as more CM was added to lignite. Moreover, considering fouling and corrosion indices, L and CM mixtures exhibited moderate corrosion and moderate fouling tendencies on heat transfer surfaces
