The aim of this study is what are the developments in the field of medical imaging in the world and Turkey, which is to put forward a comparative point of the process through to the present day. The thesis consists of four main sections. In the first part, what is the medical imaging? In the second part, current developments in the field of medical imaging; in the third part, the expectations for the future in medical imaging and in the last part the national - international prevalence analysis in the field of medical imaging has been studied comparatively. The medical imaging techniques that started with the invention of x-ray in 1895 led to significant improvements in diagnosis and treatment in the field of medicine. The total medical imaging device number in the study scope in the world and Turkey and the distribution of the cities in Turkey these devices, medical tests rates than hospitals and branch change over the years, manpower in Turkey, total health expenditures, market shares, import and export data have been examined comparatively. Education of students in medical imaging education in Turkey, the numerical status, future plans, was also examined the number of technicians working in public and private sectors. Turkey and the world financial resources allocated to medical imaging, both numerical and categorical data was examined by comparison is made. The number of medical imaging devices shows a significant increase in years in Turkey. The number of devices with a maximum of three of the largest cities of Turkey. The most commonly found device is the ultrasonic (US) device. The second order is the doppler ultrasound. The least known device is Magnetic Resonance (MR). MR, Computerized Tomography (CT) and Mammography (MG) devices are seen to be more in the private sector. US, Doppler US and eco devices are mostly located in hospitals belonging to the Ministry of Health. When examined in terms of the number of MR devices, Japan and the USA share the first two sequences. Mexico is in the last place. Turkey is in this comparison; the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) is below the average of the country. 13.9, while the average of the OECD countries, the ratio is 10.4 in Turkey. The BT device is mostly located in Japan. Followed by Japan and Australia, respectively. Last place is in Mexico. While the average number of CT scanners per one million people in the OECD countries, 23.7 per inpatient treatment in Turkey is 14.1. Turkey's average is well below the average of OECD member countries. Considering the number of MRI and CT operations in Turkey, EU (European Union) member countries are in the first place. With a figure of eight times the EU average, this field is clearly the leader. As the income levels of the countries increase, there is a serious increase in the number of medical devices per capita. According to this, in the high-income countries such as USA, Japan, Switzerland, Iceland, Finland and Denmark, parallel to this, the number of medical devices per capita seems to be high. Turkey's per capita GDP (gross domestic product), per to a million people with a number of MR and CT devices values of life expectancy at birth is below the OECD average. Turkey is importing country in medical imaging devices. While the largest item in this area is consumables, medical imaging devices are in second place. Most or critical parts of the devices are imported from abroad.
