Abstract (EN)

This exploratory research was carried out so as to discover how EFL instructors working at a preparatory school at a state university define creative writing. The underlying assumption behind this exploratory research was that different perceptions existed behind the instructors' beliefs. Thirteen EFL instructors participated in the study. In this study, four types of instruments were used for the data collection. First of all, the data was gathered through semi-structured interviews to have a general idea about EFL instructors' beliefs. Secondly, they were given a checklist to have a deeper understanding of their perceptions. And then, a focus group interview was applied in the light of the previous data for the circulation. Finally, field notes were used when it was necessary. Due to the nature of the study, content analysis was conducted to identify the emerging themes. After the systematic classification, the content was described. The data gathered by different tools was matched and compared. The results were compared to the literature to be able to reflect the similarities and differences about teacher beliefs among EFL instructors explicitly. Keywords: Teacher beliefs, perceptions, writing, creative writing, EFL classes, EFL instructors.
