SINGLE MODEL ASSEMBLY LINE BALANCING METHODS AND AN APPLICATION (M. Sc. Thesis) Hadi GÖKÇEN GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY April 19 89 ABSTRACT Elemmation of Idle time in respect to the work items having more serious problems on the part of our Industries which have been conducting assembly produc tion, and further becoming free and harmless from the financial burden resulted there of, as well as securing and executting perfect flow of assembly production more efficient than that of made before can be attained and made possible only by application and implementation of Assembly Line Balancing methods. For the purpose of setting forth effective elucidations and clarifications in solving the foregoing discrepancies and problems in the present thesis 15 different methods selected amongsth the single model Assembly Line Balancing methods in reference to various alternative problematic circums tances, and as such have been examined and evaluated accordingly. As a result of these evaluations obtained, an effective and efficient method has been selected which suits best implementation and then such method has been implemented ant tried on a line where production of trailer assembly work being carried out. -iv-
