Abstract (EN)

Renewable energy obtained from natural resources is clean, plentiful, and inexhaustible. It provides users with opportunities to save energy and improve efficiency while contributing to the ecosystem and promoting a cleaner environment for future generations. This makes it crucial for sustainability. Moreover, renewable energy supports employment, presents logistical advantages, and reduces dependence on foreign countries for energy, which are significant factors that encourage people, organizations, and governments to utilize it. In the present study, a questionnaire was conducted with 170 technical personnel from both the public and private sectors who take part in the stages of design, control, manufacturing, or inspection of projects regarding renewable energy sources in the TR63 region, including the provinces of Hatay, Osmaniye, and Kahramanmaraş. Various methods, such as the descriptive statistical methods, relative importance index, chi-square independence test, and factor analysis, were employed in order to assess the responses to this questionnaire. The results of the analyses and hypotheses were corroborated by the literature. Consequently, it was detected that there were no significant differences in the awareness levels of civil engineers and architectural technical staff who participated to the questionnaire, related to renewable energy sources and there is no difference in this regard between those working in the public and private sectors; they use renewable energy for heating, cooling and ventilation systems; ıt was determined that they preferred mechanical and electronic active systems more than passive systems. In addition, it was determined that they preferred mechanical and electronic active systems used for heating, cooling, and ventilation purposes over passive systems. Apart from these, the current questionnaire demonstrates that these resources can be used to generate electricity and fuel, and that it is feasible to keep the necessary energy level at a minimum without sacrificing comfort. Furthermore, solar and wind energy were found to be the most used renewable energy sources owing to the suitable climatic conditions of the TR63 region.
