Abstract (EN)

Glass is a liquid formed by the dissolution of subcooled alkali and alkaline earth metal oxides and other metal oxides, and its main material is silicon. It is used in many sectors due to its glass structure. Tempered glass is called glass consisting of a single layer that has been subjected to special treatment in order to increase the mechanical strength and to ensure that it shatters after impact. Tempered glasses used in automotive are made at a temperature of approximately 650-700 degrees and pressures between 15-25 kPa. Fragmentation test is one of the safety tests in the automotive industry. With this test, the tempered glass is broken and the measurement is made in accordance with the standard norms. In this study, two different colors, two different glass thicknesses, two different oven residence times and two different pressure values were used. These processes were carried out in a GLASSTECH brand horizontal tempering furnace. By choosing the same thickness of glass and changing the temperature, pressure, color and residence time in the oven in a coordinated manner, the number of glass pieces was examined.
