Abstract (EN)

The research showed that bath baths applied in two different orders in term babies; It was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study to determine its effect on stress level and physiological parameters. The data was obtained from 104 term babies born in a training and research hospital between 18 July and 20 September 2023 and who met the sample selection criteria. Randomly divided into two groups, 52 infants in Group 1 were bathed with swaddling tub bath in which the head was washed first and then the trunk, and 52 infants in Group 2 were bathed with swaddling tub bath in which the head was washed last. Bathing was performed by the same person in all infants 24 hours after birth. Stress levels of the infants were evaluated independently by two different observers before, during and after bathing, and physiological parameters were evaluated by the same observer before and after the procedure. The stress levels of the groups before the procedure were similar (p>0.05), the stress levels of the infants in Group 1 during (5.62±1.43a/6.12±1.45b) and after the procedure (2.52±1.11a/2.85±1.13b) were significantly higher (p<0.001) than those of the infants in Group 2 (During the procedure: 3,67±1,31a/3,27±1,42b) (post-phazirocedure: 1,02±1,23a/1,10±1,14b) were significantly higher (p<0,001/p<0,001, respectively) and calming times (Group 1: 6,88±2,92; Group 2: 4,31±1,55) were significantly longer (p<0,001). The pre-procedure body temperatures, heart rates and oxygen saturation levels of the groups were similar (p>0.05), the mean post-procedure body temperatures of the infants in Group 1 (immediately after the procedure: 35.63 ± 0.28, 1st min.: 35.86±0.35, 5th min: 36,03±0,27, 15th min: 36,28±0,25, 30th min: 36,36±0,25) than the infants in Group 2 (immediately after: 36,01±0,21 1st min: 36,29±0,27; 5th min: 36,36±0,25; 15th min: 36,43±0,23; 30th min: 36,52±0,21) were significantly lower (p<0,001), post-procedure heart rates were significantly higher (p=0,001), O2 saturation levels were significantly lower (Group 1: 98,90±1,01, Group 2: 99,25±0,68) (p=0,044). In addition, it was determined that the stress levels, body temperature, heart rate and O2 saturation levels of the infants in Group 2 at the last evaluation were similar to those before the procedure (p>0.05).
