Analysis of peace agreement and military power use solutions in the context of combating terrorist: FARC-LTTE examples

Terrorism, in general, is an element that threatens the internal security of states. Countries facing the problem of terrorism are trying to solve this problem primarily through military methods. In addition to military methods, it is used in countries that implement the negotiation method to solve the problem of terrorism. The most important breaking point in the fight against terrorism is the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 9/11 caused an anti-terrorism structure in the world to fight terrorism. The states of Colombia and Sri Lanka stand out as two states that have implemented their own methods of resolution in the fight against terrorism. The two countries have primarily tried the negotiating method to solve the problem of terrorism. However, the method of negotiation did not give the same result for the two countries. The conditions of the two countries and the factors affecting the process have directed these countries to different methods. Colombia and the FARC signed a peace agreement at the end of the negotiations. With the agreement, the FARC left arms and participated in political life. The peace agreement has been a hope for peace for countries experiencing the same problem. The Sri Lankan government liquidated the Tamil Tigers at the end of the armed struggle. This model, which he called the "Sri Lankan Model", set an example in the fight against terrorism. The Sri Lankan Model has brought with it discussions of human rights abuses. The Tamil Tigers are over, but the Tamil problem remains unresolved. For lasting peace in the fight against terrorism, the source of the problem must be known. If the source of the problem is not eliminated, there is a possibility of a repeat of terrorism. This thesis is a comparative analysis of selected cases.
