Prof. Dr. Sefa ERTÜRKAssist. Prof. Dr. Ali HAVAREThe CMS tracker is designed to provide a clean identification and a precisemeasurement of charged particles up to an acceptance range of |η| = 2.5. The trackerpart of the CMS detector will be built with ~16000 silicon detector modules. It mustensure functionality in the high radiation environment of the LHC. The expected 109inelastic pp events per second at design luminosity will generate a hostile radiationenvironment. To survive in the high radiation environment of the LHC the entirevolume of the silicon tracker will be permanently kept at -10 ºC during running andonly for limited periods of time it will reach temperatures above 0 ºC formaintenance purposes. All the materials of the CMS silicon modules have to beverified for they will have a good performance in that cold environment beforeinstallation to the CMS Tracker. In order to understand their performance qualityassurance tests are done with two different systems: ARC and LT systems. Amongthe two setups the module LT system is the one to identify whether the performanceof readout electronics and leakage current flowing on the silicon sensors are affectedby cold temperature or not.One goal of this thesis was to verify LT system was working smoothly. Theother goal was the varification of the modules with this system. The production ofthe CMS TOB modules, their front-end electronics and module testing systems willbe reviewed. Results of the LT test that present the temperature dependence ofsilicon modules were analyzed and performance of the modules discussed in detail.Key Words: CMS, Silicon Strip Tracker, LT System.I
