Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the temperature distribution and associated thermal stresses of variable cross-sectional annular fin have been numerically investigated using the Pseudospectral Chebyshev Method. It has been assumed that the annular fin is made of a particle-reinforced composite material with ceramic reinforcement uniformly distributed in a metal matrix. The mechanical properties of the composite material are constant throughout the annular fin and have been obtained using the Halpin-Tsai Homogenization method. The thickness of the annular fin varies along the radial direction. In this case, the energy equilibrium and thermal stress equilibrium equations became more complex, making analytical solutions challenging. Therefore, the validation of the Pseudospectral Chebyshev Method (PCM) has been demonstrated on an annular fin with a uniform cross-section. Based on the results obtained, the temperature distribution and thermal stresses of a variable cross-sectional annular fin that made of composite material have been discussed.
