Abstract (EN)

The main factor that creates the problem of religious language stems from the fact that human beings want to know, characterize, and define the being they have accepted as sacred by carrying the language they use in their daily communication to the field of religion and belief. Because, while this language is sufficient to envision concrete things, it will be insufficient for subjects that cannot be perceived directly. For this reason, the problem of religious language constitutes one of the main subjects of the philosophy of religion, in which various questions such as whether it is possible to talk about God and, if possible, in what way, are tried to be answered. In this study, various approaches brought to these questions and problems in the history of thought are discussed in detail within the framework of the ideas of important theologians and philosophers and with possible criticisms that can be directed to these ideas. Thomas Aquinas' analogical language theory, which we think may be a more inclusive solution to the problem of religious language, is evaluated by considering his works. In addition, the reasons that led Aquinas to such an understanding of language are examined in detail under different headings.
