Abstract (EN)

Poetry anthologies are invaluable resources for researchers seeking to understand the literary, linguistic, historical, cultural, social, political, and economic context of the periods in which they emerged. By following this path, scholars contribute to the academic world by uncovering both known and undiscovered poems and poets. Our study focuses on manuscript R. 1966 from the Topkapı Palace Library. The compiler and compilation date of the anthology are not precisely known. The anthology, created in the classical Turkish literary tradition, contains 329 poems written in various poetic forms. The number of identified poets is 23, apart from this, the author of 1 ghazal and 1 pendname is unknown. This study consists of two main sections. The introduction provides definitions of the anthology, classification of anthologies, and an emphasis on MESTAP. Following this, the discussion delves into the general characteristics of the anthology, gleaned information about its compiler and compilation date, derived conclusions, and brief biographies of the anthology's poets. The number of poets and poems, the centuries in which they lived, and the metrics found in the anthology are illustrated using numerical data. Further, while focusing on the formal and substantive characteristics of the anthology, observations are clarified with various examples. In the second section, the translated text of the anthology is presented, alongside an examination of whether the included poems exist in published sources. Copy differences of the poems identified in published sources are shown in footnotes. Finally, the classification of the anthology according to MESTAP is provided.
