Application of total quality management to institutions of professional edication: Examples of Kütahya Atatürk Anadolu Teknik Lise and Endüstri Meslek Lisesi

VI ABSTRACT Our country suffers a lot in vocational training as well as the other types of education. The current increase in the variety and the number of these vocational and technical schools have forced us to use better the resources allocated for them, and to come up with new and modern curriculum. Within this study, the major task was to analyse the motivational affects of "continuous modernisation-reformation", a major aspect of total quality culture, on the students of vocational training and technical schools. In first four chapters, we give the definitions of the relevant concepts such as total quality management and quality circles; explain the tools and the techniques that are used in total quality circles, and describe the current situation of the vocational training and technical education in our country. In the fifth chapter shows the results and the evaluation of a total quality circles' applications in Atatürk Anadolu Teknik Lisesi and Endüstri Meslek Lisesi. In these studies by making where the brain storm tecnique is used with the students and teachers, the factors that effect the students' success have been examined.The taken datums that are taken, are examined by using pareto analysis, histogram and fishbone techniques and is understood that four factors are significant. These are schedule, homework, class environment and teacher. These four factors are divided into items and some improvement studies have been done on each items. At the end of these studies in the chosen class, the lesson success have been increased and it's obtained that at the end of the year all the lessons' success ratio was %100. It has been examined that the students' motivation has increased, "This is my school" conscious has occured, personal qualites such as determination, resolution, patience have been grown up. With the total quality activities that have been used in all classes, general success is expected to be increased and better quality and more modern education conditions will be formed. The main important matter that dynamic school organisation that is formed by the voluntered people who believe the necessity of total quality and the belief about it's success.
