Abstract (EN)

This descriptive study was conducted with 109 patients who underwent total knee prosthesis at the Orthopedics Service of Gebze State Hospital between March 2023 and March 2024, who agreed to participate in the study and met the study criteria, in order to examine the effect of patients' comfort levels on their self-care ability after total knee prosthesis surgery. . After the patients who underwent total knee prosthesis and met the inclusion criteria were informed and signed the Voluntary Informed Consent Form, data were obtained using the Descriptive and Clinical Features Form, General Comfort Scale, and Self-Care Power Scale in the postoperative period. While evaluating the findings obtained in the study, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 26 program (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used for statistical analysis. The patients' mean GCQ total score was 123.34±15.31, and their total mean score on the SDQ was 75.81±14.11; It was determined that as the patients' comfort level increased, their self-care ability also increased. While it was observed that the postoperative pain level negatively affected the general comfort of the patients, the number of urine outputs and self-care ability positively affected the comfort level; Postoperative pain level negatively affects patients' self-care ability; education level and general comfort were found to have a positive impact.
