Abstract (EN)

In this study temperature distributions occuring in samples were analyzed while quenching of the porous copper, aluminium, stainless steel, low carbon steel cylinders produced by Powder Metallurgy (P/M). Then cooling curves of the metals were drawn. Parameters, porosity, dimensions, initial temperature, type of the material and the temperature of the bath, affect the cooling curves were investigated. This problem was modelled in FLUENT packet program. In our problem heat transfer coefficient, heat conduction coefficient and the properties of the water are changed with temperature. User defined function was written in C compiler for the varying heat transfer coefficient and the heat conduction coefficient then this udf transferred to FLUENT packet program. Results were compared with analytical and other numerical studies and generally it is seen that they are compatible with other studies.
