Traditional folk medicine in Çankırı

Folk medicine that exists long before Modern Medicine's become widespread, involves conventional applications from past to present which continues in different societies in various ways and levels. Even though these conventional applications have different sizes, it can be propounded that they found a living space in Turkish culture interconnected with especially folk hospital culture. Çankırı territory is one of the regions that folk hospital culture and related to this, folk healer culture continue. Apart from the research about this subject that took place approximately 20 years ago, Çankırı folk medicine hasn't been handled substantially. However, folk healers' applications are still being used even in present days, for this reason, it is so important to compile, assort, analyze and compare these applications with old information. Accordingly, it can be said that new informations gathered from this research will contribute to the folk medicine of the territory. Drawing attention to this subject again by this thesis research and spearheading to other researches related to this subject is going to be one of the common effects of the research. Moreover, it is going to be acquired that how much present-day applications and information from 20 years ago coincide or how much they changed. Also, it is thought that new comparative researches about the subject and clues related to the historical development of this culture are going to emerge. Adding this thesis alongside other theses related to different territories is important, in terms of specifying the place of folk medicine in Anatolian Turkish Culture.
