Abstract (EN)
In this thesis the fatal and injury traffic accidents, occured in Ankara in the years of 2003 and 2004, were examined using Geographical Information Systems. Also the infrastructure facilities were examined in the view of their possitive and negative affects to the traffic accidents. In this study the traffic accidents occured on Eskişehir road- Istanbul road -Konya road - Samsun road, which are the arterial roads surrounding Ankara, and the location of the accidents were examined on thematic maps. Furthermore the affects of some newly done substructures like junctions and road enlargements , to the traffic accidents were examined. It has been detected that newly edited crossroads have been effective in the raise of some kind of traffic accidents .With this study it has been tried to expose the problems, which might be took place because of the infrastructure operations that have been planned in the urban scale , considering the traffic security.
