During the first meeting at the hospital, data forms were filled in by the intervention and control groups, and then face-to-face contraceptive method counseling was provided to the intervention group and an educational brochure was given. A total of 12 interviews, including 10 phone calls and one video call, were held with the intervention group for motivation and information reinforcement, and a total of three interviews were held with the control group, one face-to-face and two phone calls. All participants were questioned about their method use by phone in the sixth and 12th months, and "KYIBT" was applied to both groups by phone in the 12th month. Results: Descriptive characteristics, FPAS total scores and KTCM pre-test scores of women in the intervention and control groups were found to be similar (p>0.05). The KTCM posttest scores of the intervention group were found to be statistically significantly higher (p<0.01). At the 12th month after birth, the rate of IUD use in the intervention group and the rate of using the withdrawal method in the control group was significantly higher (p<0.01). The rate of contraceptive method use was found to be significantly higher in the intervention group at 12 months (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that contraceptive method counseling offered through motivational interviewing method based on TTM had a positive effect on the contraceptive method knowledge levels of women in the postpartum period, the initiation of contraceptive method use, and the choice of modern contraceptive methods.
