Application of cement fillings to travertines incresing the qualitiy

One of important factors in the development of our economy is to use effectively our currents underground sources. Our country also has important natural stone reserves as in other present natural underground sources. In order to ensure the position of our natural stone industry in the world market, to work more efficiently for production companies, it is necessary to eliminate or to repair the structural defects and failures in the structure of natural stones as much as possible. It is very common to use natural stones because of their decorative views, in this way, surface brightness and color values in natural stones as well as travertine have bacome important matter. In this study, in order to improve brightness and color values of cement filled travertine, new prescriptions about filling materials have been prepared and tested on travertine plates. Four different travertines have been chosen from the product range of Kara Mehmet Mermer San. Tic. Ltd. Şti. which chemical properties were determined by the mercury porosimetry values (XRF) analysis. Brightness and color measurements were cheked in travertine slabs size of 60x30x2 cm, in the same abrasive series, tape speed and head pressure are fixed. As a result brightness and color values were improved travertine's own use to filling material of the milled material to reduce the amount of cement, of pigment additives to cement ratio is decreased with decreasing.
