Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTThe objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) onimplant stability by resonance frequency analysis on early healing period.Systemically healthy 19 patients, without the need for further bone augmentationprocedure like sinus floor augmentation, distraction osteogenesis or bone grafting, andhaving at least 2 adjacent missing teeth in the mandibula or maxilla were included inthis study. At least two cylindrical (total 64 implants) implants were placed to eachpatient. Following surgical preparation of implant sockets quality of bone was recorded. One randomly selected socket was filled with preoperatively prepared PRF. No PRFapplication was made to the other sockets. The serum of the PRF was used to wet theimplant that would be placed into the PRF-covered socket. The other implant was notwet with PRF serum. Insertion torque values were recorded during the placement ofimplants. Resonance frequency measurements (RFA) were made by Osstell? ISQintraoperatively and on the post-operative 7th day, and the following 1st month.RFA demonstrated that PRF+ group stability measurements were statistically higherthan PRF- group (p<0,05). Moreover RFA values and insertion torque values weresimilar. Long-term stability was more increased in type 2 bone than other bone types.PRF application during implant surgery improved stability during early healing period.Further experimental investigations are needed to confirm these results.Key words: Platelet-rich fibrin, osseointegration, resonance frequency analysis, implantstability
