Abstract (EN)

Çukurova Region, just like the other regions of Anatolia, constitutes an area that includes many cultural elements. The city of Adana, which is in the centre of the region, is an invaluable district with a rich cultural history where all the cultural elements that Çukurova owns can be seen. There is no doubt that the folk songs of Adana are among the most important components of this rich culture. In the district, the folk song repertory, having prospered with the tradition of elegies and minstrelsy, has an important place within Turkish Folk Music. In this study, which examines the folk songs in Adana that have an important role for the cultural structure of the region be understood and evaluated better, first of all the general information about Adana is given, and then the tradition of singing in this city is handled. Finally, identified as belonging to Adana district, fifty works from TRT repertory are examined in terms of their genre and form. Key Words: Genre, Form, Music, Folk Song, Çukurova, Adana.
