Musical-literary analysis of Nevşehir folk songs in TRT repertory and their usability in music education

The primary aim of this study is to systematically compile Turkish Art Music (THM) works from Nevsehir, conduct literary analyses based on the lyrics, and melodic analyses based on the compositions, and determine their usability within music education. Additionally, the study aims to contribute to Turkish folk research by classifying THM folk songs from the Nevsehir region, thereby providing a reference for future studies on the subject. In this research, TAM works from the Nevsehir region included in the TRT repertoire were compiled, and these works were examined both literarily and musically. Furthermore, the usability of these works in music education was evaluated. Although various scientific studies have been conducted on the compositions and lyrics of THM folk songs from the Nevsehir region, these have generally focused exclusively on either folkloric or musical analyses. At the beginning of the study, information is provided regarding the origin and definition of folk songs, classification of folk songs, previous studies related to Nevsehir folk songs and other works, as well as the general characteristics of Nevsehir folk songs. The folk songs were classified based on their structure, form, theme, context, performance environment, and function, as well as their sources and melodies. The literary values of the works were analyzed by examining their associated traditions, poetic forms and units, rhymes and rhyme schemes, meters, and pauses. Their musical structures were also analyzed by determining modal features, note names, scales, dominant, tonic, subdominant notes, and vocal ranges. Using a survey model, the study explains the importance of Nevsehir region folk songs included in the TRT repertoire in terms of music education. Their functions and usability within educational levels were identified and analyzed through content analysis.
