Abstract (EN)

This research was done with the aim of determining the ideas effective on the decisions of the individuals to use consumer loans, determining the type, limit and duration of the mostly used consumer loans and giving guiding and educational recommendations regarding the usage of consumer loans that give property and service satisfaction in the short-run and provide secure future with the investments made in the long-run when used consciously.The sample population of this research was composed of 300 individuals who were chosen among the consumers living in the Ankara city center by using the simple coincidental sampling method.The data of this research was collected through a prepared survey form by practising the personal interview technique, the data obtained was analyzed with the SPSS 11.5 tool.At the end of this research, it has been determined that the most used loan types among the consumer loans borrowed by the individuals were personal loans, car loans and housing loans. When individuals who participated in this research consider using consumer loans, they primarily inquire about interest rates, prefer the bank which applies the lowest interest rate and the lowest commission rate.Key words: Consumer, Consumption, Bank, Retail Banking, Consumer Loan.
