Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the machinability performance of a tungsten lanthanide alloy, which is the subject of limited research in the literature, was experimentally investigated under different cutting parameters and cutting environments. In this study, dry machining, boron oil-added machining, and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) conditions were comparatively evaluated, with surface roughness and tool wear being considered as the main machinability criteria. In the experimental study, designed based on a full factorial design, the effects of cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on machinability performance were systematically analyzed. In addition to graphical evaluation of the experimental data, S/N ratio analysis was performed for surface roughness results, and analysis of variance was applied to increase statistical reliability. The study revealed that different cutting environments had significant effects on performance, and that the application, particularly in the Minimum Quantity Lubrication environment, improved surface quality and reduced tool wear. SEM examinations also revealed that less wear occurred on the cutting tool surface compared to experiments conducted in the same environment. These results contribute to the determination of optimum machining conditions in turning operations of Tungsten Lanthanide alloy and reveal important findings for advanced manufacturing technologies in terms of sustainable production.
