The effect of tourist guides' networking behavior on career success

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the networking behaviors of tourist guides in terms of socio-demographic variables and to determine the impact of these behaviors on career success. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted and research hypotheses were developed based on the theoretical framework of the Conservation of Resources Theory (COR). The population of the study was determined as active tourist guides affiliated to Nevşehir Chamber of Guides (NERO) and data were collected from a total of 276 tourist guides. In order to test the research hypotheses developed in line with the theoretical framework of the study, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple regression analyses were used. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that the networking behaviors of tourist guides (maintaining contacts, socializing, engaging in professional activities, participating in community and increasing internal visibility) showed statistically significant differences according to gender, age and educational status. In addition, it was determined that tourist guides' behaviors of participating in professional activities, participating in social activities and increasing internal visibility have a significant positive effect on both objective and subjective career success. On the other hand, it was concluded that maintaining contacts and socializing behaviors have a significant positive effect only on subjective career success.
