Abstract (EN)
In this master's thesis, linear and nonlinear time history analyses of reinforced concrete tall building, according to Turkish and American regulations, are performed. Within the scope of Turkish design codes; Turkish Building Code 2018 (TBDY), TS 500 Requirements for Design and Construction of Reinforced Concrete Structures and TS 498 Design Loads for Buildings are considered. Turkish Building Code is widely used for linear and nonlinear design. TS 498 is employed for material properties and load combinations. TS 498 is applied for load values. Other countries codes and regulations are used for subjects that are not included in Turkish codes. Within the scope of American codes; ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, ASCE 07-10 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures and ASCE 41-13 Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings are used. ACI 318-14 is used for reinforced concrete cross section analysis. ASCE 07-10 is used for linear design of building. ASCE 41-13 is used for nonlinear modeling and analysis. In this study, shear walls had examined in detail. Columns and beams have only been shown to assure that the necessary strength requirements are satisfied. In the second part of the study, materials behavior and performance-based design criteria are investigated. Within this scope confined and unconfined concrete behavior is covered as well as stress-strain relations of reinforcing steel bars. Lumped plastic hinge theory and distributed plastic hinge theory is also studied. Performance evaluation criteria are investigated in detail. In the third part of the study, linear analysis and design of reinforcement concrete was conducted in compliance with both Turkish seismic code and American design codes& provisions. In the fourth part of the study, performance-based analysis of the building in compliant with Turkish and American codes is studied. In the fifth part of the study, basic information about structure that is modeled is given. Cross-section dimensions of reinforce concrete members and considered load values are demonstrated. Design material properties for both concrete and reinforcing steel bar are mentioned. In the sixth part of the study, linear analyses are performed according to Turkish and American codes. Etabs v.16.2.0 (for finite element modeling) and CsiCol v8 (for section-analysis) software programs are utilized for linear analysis and reinforced concrete design. Mapped spectral acceleration values that are used for response spectra are obtained via seismic risk coefficient map which is published by Turkey Disaster an Emergency Management (AFAD). In the seventh part of the study, nonlinear analyses are performed according to Turkish and American codes. Perform 3D V5 and Xtract software programs are employed for nonlinear analysis and cross section analysis respectively. In the eighth part of study, analysis results are compared between according to Turkish and American codes.
