Abstract (EN)
Work time, which is one of the most important conditions regarding working arrangements, constitutes the subject of this dissertation. The provisions of Statute no: 4587 are analyzed primarily in this study. Furthermore, work time provisions of Maritime Labour Act and Press Labour Act, namely the other labour acts in Turkish labour law, are also analyzed. Statute no: 4857, unlike preceding labour acts, includes provisions allowing flexing of work time alongside defining and limiting work time. In this context, this dissertation covers both regular work time and systems that allow parties to determine flexible work time. In the study, not only the data of domestic law, but also the regulations of international and regional bodies of law regarding work time are examined. In this scope, International Labour Organization accords and directives of European Union regarding work time are analyzed and rules laid out by these legal documents are examined comparatively to shed light on Turkish work time law.
