The effect of beginner level curriculum design for Turkish music g clarinet education on students' playing skills

This research was carried out in order to examine Turkish music G clarinet education on a scientific and methodological basis and to create educational content that can move it from the current level to a more advanced and productive level. As a result of the literature review, it was determined that there is no existing and widespread curriculum for Turkish music G clarinet education and in this direction, semi-structured interviews were conducted with four field experts. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed and evaluated using content analysis method. With the needs analysis data obtained from expert opinions and personal observations, an initial level curriculum design for Turkish music G clarinet that can be carried out in vocational music education institutions was prepared in line with the purpose of the research. The initial level curriculum design consists of a total of nine units and forty-three subjects. The study group of the research consisted of three students who were studying in the first grade of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Turkish Music State Conservatory and whose individual instrument was clarinet. In the experimental dimension, the teaching program design prepared for twenty-eight weeks was applied to three students at the beginner level, and testing and measurement processes were carried out with theoretical knowledge tests and performance tests. The data obtained from the performance tests were evaluated by three field experts based on a 5-point Likert scale. Then, achievement scores were found by calculating the weighted averages of the theoretical knowledge tests and performance tests for each unit. In the study, quantitative and qualitative methods were used in the process of creating the curriculum design and quantitative methods were used in the experimental phase of testing the curriculum design. In the experimental dimension of the study, time series model (quasi-experiment model) and single group post-test model were applied. As a result of the research, the average achievement scores of the units of the curriculum design were determined in the range of 81-100 points, and the average achievement scores of the students according to the units were determined in the range of 90.27 - 94.44, and thus it was concluded that the program was successful.
