Interactive educational software for basic knowledge of Turkish music theory

Abstract (EN)

The objective of this research is to develop an interactive educational software for basic knowledge of Turkish Music theory and to present this to the evaluation of music and graphic design specialists and students. In accordance with main purpose, targets and content were prepared and the design of the educational software was carried out. Then, five-point Lykert type scale for educational software was developed according to the subobjectives. Scale, was applied to the 40 students of Fine Arts High School, 40 music specialists and 40 graphic design specialists at random. To ensure content validity of the scale, it was prepared with the consultation of the expert group. In reliability analysis Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency reliability was calculated as ? = 0,970. The arithmetic mean and standard deviation of data was put into a table and interpretation were made in the light of the findings.As a result of evaluations it was determined that; Developing of content was in accordance with targets, so as to ensure the integrity, in conformity with gradually increasing and small steps principles of programmed instruction and so this increased efficiency and effectiveness of educational software; at the introduction activities, supporting the content with variable audio-visual elements ensured attractiveness and motivation, so created an incentive structure to learn Turkish Music theory. Content presention was supported visually by color arrangements associated with the knowledge in a systematic way and auditorily by help of interactive elements, so retention was strengthened and more interesting and functional structure was configured. Interface design elements of interactive educational software are sufficient functionally; ensures the integrity formally and in terms of colour; have a dynamic structure that reflects content; choice of font, text size and colour of typographic elements is correct and text legibility is provided. At the evaluation section of educational software, it was achieved diversity of measuring and presentation of evaluation process in more interesting format owing to different question types which were developed by using facilities of interactivity; also compliance with success and immediate feedback principles of programmed instruction makes important contributions to the evaluation process.
