Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the chronotopes in fourteen socialistic realistic novels in Turkish and Uzbek literature during 1937-1989 in a comparative manner. Determining and evaluating the reflections of the current of socialist realism in literary works and understanding the evolution of these works in a social context are among the main goals of this research. In this study, document analysis method was preferred from qualitative research models and these methods were supported by an in-depth literature search, cultural analysis and comparative literary analysis techniques. Within the scope of this study, a research was conducted to determine the reflections of social realism in Turkish and Uzbek literature through the concept of chronotope proposed by Mikhail Bakhtin. Within this framework, the existence, function, common and similar aspects of chronotopes have been focused on in order to evaluate whether literary conceptions have the same content, message and ideology in the particular of socialist realistic novels. Fourteen novels selected by sampling from the socialist realistic novels in Turkish and Uzbek literatures that make up the universe of the study were evaluated in detail in the context of chronotopes and comparatively analyzed. The findings obtained by considering the chronotopes in the novels selected in the sample with a comparative evaluation according to the theory of variation reveal the evolution of socialist realism over time and its reflections on literary works. The findings of the study, which make an important contribution to the understanding of socialist realistic novels in the context of chronotopes, also show how literary works are shaped in a social context, enriched in terms of time, space, culture and ideology. The findings obtained in this study, which provide an important perspective for the detailed understanding of the role of chronotopes in literary research, are of a guiding nature not only for the fourteen selected novel features, but also for the understanding of other works with a similar thematic structure. Therefore, the study has the property of being a fundamental step towards developing new methods and perspectives in literary research. The research to be conducted after this study can be expanded to include socialist realistic literary products from different periods and geographies. This study, which can be used to understand how different literary movements and ideological approaches are reflected in literature through chronotope, is especially qualified to guide studies in which certain authors and works are examined in depth.
