Abstract (EN)
Culture has existed as a result of transferring the lifestyle, beliefs, and mindset of a society thathas been transferred from the past to the present, through the transfer of activities such asliterature and art. Societies have revealed their own cultural structures in line with thegeographical region they live in, the language they use and their lifestyle, and different cultureshave occurred as a result of this situation. The richness of language as a cultural phenomenon is determined by the presence in it of idioms and stable expressions. To study and know a language means to understand and use its phraseological system. The aim of this study is to compare the names of color, as one of the cultural phenomena, in Russian and Turkish languages in the aspect of their symbolic meanings and use in idioms of two different cultures. The coloratives and names of color tones show the peculiarities of peoples' worldviews and religions, express geographical differences and differences in the subject world of representatives of different cultures.Comparison of the functions of coloratives in Russian and Turkish culture was carried out by sampling their explanatory and phraseological dictionaries of Turkish and Russian languages and by using the descriptive method. As a result of the study, similarities and differences in the use of color words and symbolization of their meanings in these two languages have been established.
